About Us

I started chasing Whitetails exclusively on public land in Wisconsin back in 1995. At 12 years old, I harvested my first deer with a bow on November 5, 1995 at 7:45 am. I can still vividly remember watching my orange and white fletched Easton 2216 Gamegetter arrow find its mark and the sound of the aluminum echoing through the cold autumn air as the doe ran off after the shot. After recovering the deer with my father it was clear that deer hunting would always be a huge part of my life and who I was as a person. Little did I know at the time, it would eventually be something I would build a business around.

Moving ahead to 2005 we began leasing private land in Northwest Wisconsin. With the landowners permission, we began carving out food plots and trails throughout the lease. For the first time ever, we had the ability to mold a piece of land into a great place to hunt. During that process, I kept very detailed records of habitat work, tree stand observations, and trail camera data. This approach allowed me to document what worked and what didn’t and cut down on the learning curve when managing a piece of property. Despite making plenty of mistakes early on, we eventually had opportunities at mature bucks on a consistent basis during the 12 years we held the lease.

The year 2017 brought new opportunities as our family obtained a property that was a blank slate from a habitat improvement standpoint. At that point, I had over a decade of hands on experience with building whitetail habitat and a good idea of how to maximize the potential this property had to offer. Also at that time, the thought of starting my own business was on the horizon as well. That being said, I decided to hire two separate well known whitetail habitat professionals to further expand my knowledge. After both consultations I realized that my ideas and visions for the property aligned with both industry professionals and I was at a point where I could confidently begin designing and building whitetail habitat for clients.

Moving forward, I started Whitetail Design Build in 2020 after beginning my whitetail habitat building journey in 2005. Previously, I had been working as a carpenter in the commercial construction industry for 19 years. Therefore, transitioning into designing and building whitetail habitat was very natural given the amount of transferable skills needed in both occupations. That experience, combined with consistent success hunting whitetails on both private and public land annually since 1995, has allowed me to expand my client base throughout multiple states since starting my business. My mission has been to help clients realize the full potential their property has to offer. Along with saving them time, money, and frustration associated with learning by trial and error, as I did early on.

I’ve worked on properties as small as 10 acres and as large as 300 acres in size. I’m confident I will create a custom habitat improvement plan that will lead to predictable movement, keep hunting pressure light, and train the resident deer they are safe on your property during daylight hours.

I want to help you design and build a whitetail property that will produce consistent opportunities at the best bucks in your neighborhood for years to come.
